Robyn Bayly (left) and Julee Binns (right) are Physiotherapists in Christchurch, New Zealand, with over 20 years of experience between them in the area of cancer rehabilitation. During this time, they have recognised common barriers for people with cancer in accessing rehabilitation services.

They launched their online programme “Cancer FIT+” in 2021 to provide exercise, mindset, nutrition and support to empower people to create healthy habits…from the point of a cancer diagnosis….throughout treatment…and beyond.

They are passionate about providing people with the skills and support they need to take that first step into exercise (or keep exercising) which research has shown to improve the side effects of cancer treatment, such as fatigue, deconditioning, nausea, and pain.

“If you know you ‘SHOULD‘ exercise, but you’re not sure how to get started…you’re not sure what is safe…if you’ve lost your confidence or if you lack energy to exercise… then Cancer FIT+ is for you!”

More about Robyn..

Robyn lives in Christchurch with her husband Marcus and two boys, Ethan and Brodie. As a busy Mum running businesses, she has had to work on healthy habits, strategies and mindset techniques herself to get the most out of every day!

Robyn has worked with so many parents going through cancer treatment, and can relate to the pressures of work and the need to want to spend precious time with family when there is nothing left in the tank.

“Cancer is scary! But there are ways to navigate treatment in the most positive way that can help you to continue to feel in control and get the most out of each day. We hope through our programs we can fast track this process and get you feeling like YOU again…or an even better version of who you were”

Julee is a Physiotherapist who lives in Christchurch with her cat, Puck. She has two daughters who now live away from home.

Julee has worked in the field of cancer rehabilitation supporting people before, during and beyond cancer treatment for fifteen years.

Julee’s family has been touched by cancer losing her grandmother, father, brother and more recently, her partner to this terrible disease.

Julee has personally supported them through their illness and seen the struggles they encountered in a system that focuses on treating the disease and not the person.

She has realised that the first step to successfully managing a cancer diagnosis is to become more educated thus playing a more active role in the decisions about treatment options and maximising quality of life.

“Cancer doesn’t play by the rules, so you need to take control of the things you can control. A cancer diagnosis may bring out the worst but also the best in you. Maintaining positive thoughts and actions are an important part  of recovery and we hope our programs empower and support you to achieve your best health outcomes”
